Challenging Yourself

No shave November or No school November?  This month is going to cruise by, so you should always come to class prepared to take advantage of every second.  Seniors, I need to touch base with you this week about creating or putting together portfolios for the Scholastic Art Awards.  The deadline is January 16th but I want to make sure each of you has an idea and a direction.

For all of you this is the time to challenge yourself.  If you aren't spending at least 3 - 4 hours a week working on your concentration, outside of class time, ask yourself......am I playing it safe or am I challenging myself?

Check out this site, it's amazing.  http://www.thisiscolossal.com/category/art/ There are several tabs at the top that take you to various types of art.  These people are definitely challenging themselves. The images below are embroidered portraits.  The first is the front, the second is what the back looks like.  I like the back better!  What do you think?  Find some art, design or photography on Colossal and tell me what you think of the persons work.

These ridiculously detailed drawings of animals are pretty epic. The animals look like martyrs or something. They're all worn and rugged looking, but are in these elegant positions on a white background.

  9. I think that the backside of the boy's portrait is better! It's almost demonic. But it is also really interesting to look at.
